Cold Blood
She lay on the floor in front of me, gazing up at me through two twinkling green eyes. Despite everything we had been though together, she still trusted me and I still loved her; if love is the greatest thing after life. Then again death, it seems, has always been an option when things get to heavy on our brittle shoulders. Seeing her in the state she was in made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and a chill run down my spine. It worries me that the ropes between us are thinning and one day she will fall of the point of life.

I stood there, hopeless. All the years I had strived to be a better person, the hours I sat under the silver birch waiting for ideas, influence and inspiration. The bitter days I spent punching walls till my eyes streamed with bloody tears, hopeful to find a small meaning under the layers of swollen flesh that lined my bones. I had no idea they would lead me here, to the savage wilderness of my imagination. In my mind, I realised slowly the meanings were deeper than I had ever known; longer roots through the compact layers of history still to be discovered.
